CO Childhood Cancer Awareness License Plate

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Colorado is one of many states that offers specialty license plates for charities and other special groups. We believe that pediatric, adolescent, and young adult cancer needs a voice in the State of Colorado (and around the world!), so we are working toward creating a Childhood Cancer Awareness license plate that will bring awareness to our kids and our cause!

In order to do that, we need to get 3,000 signatures from individuals who support this initiative. Please click here to go to the online version of the petition.

About the effort:

MAF Ambassador, Gabe, was just nine years old when he was diagnosed with Stage IV Medulloblastoma that had already spread to his spine. Gabe had emergency surgery to relieve the pressure in his brain and remove a portion of the tumor for biopsy. He then endured radiation every day for 6 weeks, as well as 6 months of high dose chemotherapy. Gabe is now 13 and in remission, but he will deal with side effects from his treatment for the rest of his life and will have scans every few months to confirm the cancer has not returned.

One day, Gabe asked his mother, Kathleen, “Mom, why don’t kids have special plates with the gold ribbon so people know about us? …Can we make license plates for all the kids who have cancer?”

Of course, Kathleen promised Gabe she would do everything she could to create a license plate to promote childhood cancer awareness and she has done just that. For months and months, Kathleen has spent her free time attending events, spreading awareness, and asking people to sign the petition.

The Morgan Adams Foundation is honored to know Gabe and Kathleen, and to be involved in this initiative. We hope that all of our supporters around the country will help us make this a reality to show kids and young adults battling cancer that they are not alone or ignored.

As of mid-June, the petition has received just about 1,000 signatures. We need to get to 3,000 signatures before the end of September, so WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please take a few minutes of time and sign the petition today!
